If your firm is interested in making an entry to Directory of Hong Kong Law Firms and/or offering preliminary free legal consultation to the public, please apply on-line (law firm account log-in required).

Terms and Conditions

1. The Directory of Hong Kong Law Firms ("Directory") is produced by The Law Society of Hong Kong ("the Society") to facilitate the finding of the right solicitors by the members of general public. We collect information such as firm name, address, contact person, telephone number, fax number, email address, website, area(s) of practice and publish such information in the Directory.
2. The Directory of Law Firms provides information of law firms in four geographic locations, namely, Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, New Territories and Mainland China. Each section provides the details of firms and her contact person to whom the public would be directed to make their inquiries. A firm with more than one branch may have more than one listing.
3. An online version of the Directory is also available at https://lawdirectory.hklawsoc.org.hk.
4. A separate list of law firms who have volunteered to provide not exceeding 45 minutes initial free legal consultation to the public in one or more of the 24 areas of practice will be published on https://lawdirectory.hklawsoc.org.hk/en/Free-Legal-Consultation maintained by the Society. Similarly, a firm with more than one branch may have more than one listing.

Special Notes on 45-min Free Legal Consultation ("FLC")

Upon indication of your firm’s consent to provide FLC, your firm is required to:

1. Provide 45 minutes of initial legal consultation by a qualified lawyer without charge;
2. Provide FLC without imposing any other conditions, such as future payment instructions;
3. Maintain records of the number of requests for FLC received and the number of FLC provided by the firm and tender such records to the Law Society upon request; 
4. Maintain proper records of any FLC provided, in accordance with the requirements applicable to services provided to other clients of the firm; and
5. Consent to the inclusion of the firm's details and its participation in the FLC in the Pro Bono Services webpage of the Law Society website.   

Application and Confirmation Procedures

1. Fill in your firm name as well as other particulars in the appropriate boxes. Please make sure you enter all data correctly. Any subsequent revision will be subject to further administration fees. All amendments will only appear in the website version of the Directory.
2. The fees per branch listing in the Directory and 45-min Free Legal Consultation (https://lawdirectory.hklawsoc.org.hk/en/Free-Legal-Consultation) are HK$300 and HK$100 respectively. However, if your firm has submitted an entry to the Directory, the fee for listing the Free Legal Consultation for the same branch will be waived. For the avoidance of doubt, if your firm only enters a listing for the Free Legal Consultation service, the fee of HK$100 per branch listing will be charged.
3. You are required to either settle payment by credit card (Visa/Master/Union Pay)/ FPS through the online payment system of The Law Society or send a crossed cheque made payable to "The Law Society of Hong Kong" after inputting the cheque details on the payment system. To facilitate our payment processing, please remember to write down "Directory of Hong Kong Law Firms 2026", the name and telephone no. of contact person on the back of the cheque. NO cash payment will be accepted.
4. Applications without full payment will not be accepted.

Personal Data Policy

1. The personal data collected in this Request ("the data") will be used by the Society for the purpose of processing your request for the online listing of your firm to advertise your firm and the services it provides and to provide the contact information of any designated person(s). The information contained in your request will be made publicly accessible through a designated website of the Society.
2. In making the Request, it is obligatory for you to supply the Society with the data except as otherwise indicated. The consequence for you if you fail to supply such data is that the Society will not be able to process this Request. If your law firm agrees to provide a 45-minute initial legal consultation without charge to any member of the public, the same information will also be made publicly accessible in the Free Legal Consultation Service in the pro bono services area of a designated website of the Society.
3. The information together with the personal data contained in this Request may be provided to such persons within the Society whose proper business it is to have access to and assist in the processing of this Request and related matters. The same information may also be provided to such other persons who may help the Society in attaining the purposes above mentioned. Any data that is provided to anyone outside of the Society will be restricted to what is necessary and not excessive to achieve any intended purpose.
4. You have the right to request access to and correction of the data. Any such request should be addressed to the Secretary General, the Law Society of Hong Kong, 26/F., The Center, 99 Queen’s Road Central, Central, Hong Kong.
5. The Privacy Policy Statement of the Society is available on its website at www.hklawsoc.org.hk.
